Thsi section of the Tuskers website is more for my own use than for public consumption, it certainly has nothing directly to do with Tuskers but if you are interested in tropical plants and gardening feel free to browse through the pages. If you know your stuff you may notice glaring inaccuracies in my plant identification or plant details in which case please do not hesitate to contact me here with your corrections and suggestions. For that reason I have given everyting a code number so the plant is easy for mye to identify.
I developed a love for plants at my pub in Stanmore in the 90's We had a small outside deck area and planted it up nicely especially in the summer when I spent more money than an astute businessman should on flowering summer annuals. It used to look stunning and certainly helped attract passing trade.
Coming to Thailand in 2006 is a gardeners dream. Tropical plants are so stunning in their visual impact and variety and Chiang Mai has the wonderful Kamtiang Market where a gardener can browse for hours and find all manner of horticultural treasures. I spent a small fortune on plants for our old house but that was rented and when we moved out we lost it all. What is more galling is the landlord then proceeded to rip up my tropical paradise and the charge me for the privlege of doing so by deducting it form my deposit. '
We bought our ow house in March 2008. The house had not been lived in for several years and the garden was completely unkempt and overgrown. There was very little in the way of existing landscaping but there were a number of trees, evidence that someone at some time had put some thought into it at some stage. Basically though it was a blank canva on which to build.
Just because I am writing a few web pages please don't get the impression that I am a tropical gardening expert. I am a total novice and have virtually no prior knowledge whatsoever so will be learning as I go along. One of the reasons in writing these pages is to help me learn more about tropical plants and gardening and to reinforce the information in my head.
I also want a record of what plants I have and how they do.It is my ambition to have over 1,000 differnt plants in the garden and this record is one way of keeping track.
Enough rambling on with the gardening.
Thanks for looking in
